MOUNT UPDATE:  Mount St. Mary's is riding a seven-game win streak, and enters the weekend with a 13-20 overall record and a 9-4 mark in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC).  The Mountaineers are coming off a three-game sweep of Niagara at home last weekend.  The Mount edged the Purple Eagles, 3-2, in the opening game of the series before tossing a pair of shutouts (4-0 and 8-0) in a doubleheader sweep on Saturday, April 4.  Avery Dinges leads the Mount with a .402 average, 11 doubles, 27 stolen bases and 27 runs scored while Gina Del Giorno is hitting .364 with 17 runs scored.  Sophia Schmehl (4-4, 3.50 ERA), Emmaleigh Zagrodnicheck (3-5, 3.57 ERA) and Ellie Meier (5-3, 3.92 ERA) lead the pitching staff.

CANISIUS UPDATE:  Canisius was swept in a doubleheader at Iona on Tuesday to fall to 8-20 overall and 4-10 in the MAAC.  Ella Johel leads the offense with a .381 average, seven doubles, four home runs and 14 RBI while Bailey Alatorre is hitting .285 with four home runs and a team-high 19 RBI.  Olivia Manchester is the team's top pitcher with a 4-5 record and a 3.09 ERA in 56.2 innings.

THE ALL-TIME SERIES:  Canisius holds an 11-4 lead in the all-time series that began in 1986.  The Mount is 1-6 against the Golden Griffins in MAAC regular season matchups since joining the conference for the 2022-23 season.  The Mount is 1-5 all-time on the road against Canisius, including a doubleheader sweep on March 24, 2024, in the last matchup in Buffalo.  Last year, the teams played a three-game MAAC series in Emmitsburg with the Mount dropping two of three.  The Golden Griffins swept the opening twinbill (6-2, 10-0) before the Mount earned a 4-3 win in the final game of the set.

• Mount St. Mary's sits in third place in the MAAC standings with a 9-4 record.Marist leads the way with a 13-2 mark, followed by Siena (10-3), the Mount (9-4), Quinnipiac (13-6), Fairfield (8-4), Sacred Heart (10-6), Rider (9-6), Iona (9-8), Manhattan (5-9), Canisius (4-10), Merrimack (4-11), Saint Peter's (2-14) and Niagara (0-13).The top six teams in the regular season earn a spot in the MAAC Playoffs.
• The Mount's pitching staff has been a key to the hot start in league play.The trio of Sophia Schmehl, Ellie Meier and Emmaleigh Zagrodnicheck have combined to post a 2.41 ERA in MAAC play this year.Schmehl is 3-1 with a 1.65 ERA in 34.0 innings, Meier is 4-1 with a 2.53 ERA in 27.2 innings, and Zagrodnicheck is 2-2 with a 3.32 ERA and one save in 25.1 innings.
• Avery Dinges has been unstoppable on the basepaths for the Mount this year, racking up 29 stolen bases already.She is currently tied for third in the nation with her 29 steals while she is tied for second in stolen bases per game (0.94).Her 29 steals are the second-best single-season mark in Mount history.The Mount's single-season record for steals is 39 set by Bridgette Gilliano in 2022.
• Dinges is not only a stolen base threat as she leads the Mount with a .402 average, 27 runs scored and 11 doubles.She has a .620 slugging percentage and a .476 on-base percentage in 31 games played.Dinges is also tied for the team lead with Gina Del Giorno with three triples.Dinges is trying to become the third Mountaineer to hit .400 in a season, joining Jennifer Rhoads (.436, 1995) and Rachel Heinze (.407, 2017).
• Del Giorno is hitting .364 for the Mount this season with five doubles, three triples, 11 stolen bases and 17 runs scored.Earlier this season, Del Giorno had a 13-game hit streak, and she has 11 multiple-hit games this season.
• Freshman Sharon Manni is hitting a team-best .452 (14-for-31) in MAAC games this season.For the year, Manni is third on the team with a .333 average with eight steals.
• Mount St. Mary's is up to 69 stolen bases as a team this season, ranking 19^th in the nation and tops in the MAAC with 2.06 stolen bases per game.
• The Mount's seven-game win streak is the team's longest since winning 13 in a row late in the 2023 season.The seven-game streak is tied for the fourth-longest in program history.The Mount won 21 games in a row in 1987, had 13-game win streaks in 2022 and 2023, and had a seven-game win streak in 1985.
