EMMITSBURG, Md. (March 4, 2026) – Mount St. Mary's flag football freshman
Alyssa Lane was named ECAC Defensive Player of the Week on Wednesday.
A major disrupter for opposing offenses, Lane recorded six interceptions over three games played this past Saturday. The strongest game was her debut, grabbing four picks on the way to a 54-0 rout over Mercy. She would go on to add interceptions in victories over Kean and Penn State Schuylkill.
Although winning a defensive award, the Dunkirk, Maryland native made an imprint on the Mount's offense as well, finishing with 83 rushing yards, 66 receiving yards, and two touchdowns.
The Mountaineers began the season 3-0 by outscoring opponents 99-7 over the first three games. They continue the season with two games at Wagner this Saturday, March 7.
