EMMITSBURG, Md. (February 28, 2026) – Mount St. Mary's flag football manifested an impressive start, going 3-0 on the first day of games in program history. The Mountaineers outscored their opponents 99-7, defeating Mercy 54-0, Kean 26-0, and Penn State Schuylkill 19-7.
GAME 1: Mount St. Mary's 54, Mercy 0
Jayanna Goines scored the first-ever touchdown in Mount history, catching a pass from quarterback
Jenna Dick. The Mountaineers led 28-0 at the half with
Alyssa Lane scoring once on offense and on defense, and
Morgan Gregory catching a touchdown.
Arieon Stokes added a pick-six and
Madison Kean caught a pass to add their names to the list of scorers in the second half. For the game, Mercy was held to 40 yards of total offense and only eight yards passing.
GAME 2: Mount St. Mary's 26, Kean 0
The defense continued to put pressure on the competition, limiting Kean to 55 yards of offense. Lane put the Mount on the board early in the second quarter with a 35-yard touchdown run. Right before halftime, Dick found Gregory for a touchdown pass to make it 13-0 at the break. Mount would double their total in the fourth with a run by
Keira Speikes and a pass caught by Stokes.
GAME 3: Mount St. Mary's 19, Penn State Schuylkill 7
Speikes raced for 42 yards to the house for the Mount's first touchdown, and Lane registered the team's second pick-six of the day to make it 12-0 by halftime. The Lady Lions were able to break through the Mount's stout defense in the third for a 12-7 ballgame, but
Tabitha Newman punctuated the 3-0 day with a 26-yard touchdown run.
