Mount St. Mary’s Men’s Lacrosse Embarks on 2026 Season with Opener at LIU

EMMITSBURG, Md. (February 5, 2026) – Mount St. Mary's men's lacrosse begins their 2026 slate of games on the road, traveling to New York for a game with the Long Island University Sharks.
 
MOUNT UPDATE
  • Last season, the Mount finished with a 4-10 record. In terms of Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play, the Mountaineers defeated Merrimack 13-12 and Iona in the season finale.
  • For this year's preseason poll, the team earned a fifth place prediction and Brody Atkinson received a spot on the Preseason All-MAAC Team. Atkinson was the team's point leader from last year with 42 points.
  • Also returning on the offense are All-MAAC Rookie selections Carter Quested and Marcelo Carreiro. Quested scored 40 points with 30 goals and 10 assists while Carreiro earned 13 goals and six assists. Another returner is Kevin Whitty, who was fourth among Mountaineers in points.
  • Bennett Wright led the country in saves per game in 2025, registering 14.79 a contest which placed first in a group of 69 Division I qualifiers. The Lutherville, Maryland native is entering his junior season.
 
SCOUTING THE SHARKS
  • Off the backs of a 9-5 season, LIU received a high projection in the Northeast Conference preseason poll with a second place vote.
  • The Sharks finished 2025 with 173 goals on 102 assists. Mark Regan led the team with 49 points, and tied with Ben McIsaac matched Regan in goals with 29. Brayden Wilcken and Tyler Gresh shared goalkeeping responsibilities.
  • McIsaac, Wilcken, and Gresh are returning to contribute again for fourth year head coach Jordan Levine.
ALL-TIME SERIES

Friday marks the sixth meeting between Mount St. Mary's and LIU. The Sharks have won four games out of the previous five. The Mount's lone win came in 2023, defeating LIU in Emmitsburg 16-13.  
 
UPCOMING SCHEDULE

The next scheduled game is February 21 at Lafayette. Mount St. Mary's opens at home February 24 against UMBC.
