EMMITSBURG, Md. (February 4, 2026) – Hitting the road this weekend, Mount St. Mary's women's basketball begins their trip in New Rochelle, New York for a meeting with the Iona Gaels.
MOUNT UPDATE
- A strong shooting Saint Peter's team trekked into Knott Arena and earned a 73-61 victory against the Mountaineers last year. For the Mount, Amber Bullard set a career high in points with 19, and Berylnn Carlson picked up her second career double-double.
- Giana Hoddinott remains the Mount's leading scorer in the wake of Gabrielle Kennerly's injury from mid-January at 11.2 points per game. But Bullard also averages double figures now after her 19-point effort, tallying 10.7. The junior is also shooting 62.2 percent over the past six games.
- Mount St. Mary's leads the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) in steals per game, with 235 swipes this year or an average of 10.7. Hoddinott, Jaedyn Jamison, and Kayla Lindsey are all top 25 in the conference for steals per game.
SCOUTING THE GAELS
- Iona comes into the matchup looking for their fourth victory in five games. Last Saturday the Gaels defeated Manhattan 65-61 at Draddy Gymnasium in Riverdale.
- Isabellah Middleton – who earned a double-double in the first Mount-Iona meeting – has excelled in conference play with 15.1 points per game and 7.3 rebounds per game. The graduate student posted 19 and seven at Manhattan.
- Zoey Ward continues to be a presence post with 12.9 points and 8.1 rebounds per game. The duo of Ella Fajardo and Mya Zaccagnini have 116 assists between them.
THE MAAC PICTURE
- The two teams are neck and neck in the standings, with Iona holding down sixth place and Mount St. Mary's in seventh. The top six teams for the MAAC Tournament earn a first round bye.
ALL-TIME SERIES
- The entire series between the Mountaineers and Gaels are encompassed in MAAC play. Iona leads by a 5-2 margin.
- Mount is looking for their first win in New Rochelle and the first win streak for them in the series as they eye a season sweep. The Mountaineers won 65-55 last December at Knott Arena.
