MOUNT UPDATE:  Mount St. Mary's opened the season by going 1-4 at the Elon Phoenix Invitational last weekend.  The Mount won the season opener against host Elon, 9-5, before falling to Elon, Dayton (twice) and Delaware State.  Kelsie Bandelow led the offense, going 4-for-9 (.444) with a home run and team-high five RBI.  Sharon Manni has opened the year 3-for-9 (.333) at the plate with a double while Tyra Christian has a .545 on-base percentage.  In the circle, freshman Emmaleigh Zagrodnicheck went 1-0 with a 1.31 ERA in 5.1 innings of work while Sophia Schmehl has a 4.90 ERA in a team-high 10.0 innings pitched. 

THE COMPETITION
Drexel:  The Dragons opened the year by going 3-2 at the West Georgia Opening Weekend Tournament.  Drexel picked up two wins over Bellarmine (10-9 and 10-5) and a win over West Georgia (5-2).  Kyla Reading went 10-of-19 (.526) with three doubles to lead the offense with Kalea Calugay going 6-for-13 (.462) with three home runs and a team-high eight RBI.  Courtney Kols is the top pitcher, going 3-0 with a 5.33 ERA in a team-high 21.0 innings of work. 

George Washington:  George Washington opened the season at the UNCW Tournament, going 2-2 with a pair of wins over Kennesaw State (7-6 and 7-3).  Reese Farrell hit .500 (5-for-10) over the first four games while Paige Hayward hit .444 (4-for-9).  Cece Smith (4.06 ERA) and Chloe Greene (4.50 ERA) have each started two games for the Revolutionaries.

Winthrop:  Winthrop has opened the season with a 3-7 record with wins over Kent State, LeMoyne and Robert Morris.  The Eagles were swept in a doubleheader at Western Carolina (9-2 and 11-5) on Tuesday afternoon.  Peyton Bryden is hitting .394 with three home runs and eight RBI to lead the offense.  Darrah Nickens (.385) and Rebecca Amos (.371) have also started the season fast.  In the circle, Lonna Addison has been the top pitcher with a 2-2 record and a 4.20 ERA in a team-high 28.1 innings pitched.


ALL-TIME SERIES
vs. Drexel:  This will be the first-ever meeting between the Mount and the Dragons.

vs. George Washington:  This will be the 30th all-time meeting between the Mount and the Revolutionaries.  George Washington holds an 18-10-1 lead in the all-time series, but the Mount has won the past two matchups, winning 2-1 at home on March 22, 2023 and the following year at a neutral site, 4-1, on February 25, 2024.   The first-ever meeting between the two teams was a Mount doubleheader sweep at home (3-2 and 4-2) on March 25, 2023.

vs. Winthrop:  Mount St. Mary's is 1-4 all-time against Winthrop in the all-time series that began in 1999.  The Mount is 1-3 on the road against the Eagles and 0-1 at a neutral site.  The Mount lost to Winthrop in each of the past two seasons, falling 6-2 on March 4, 2025, and 3-2 on February 17, 2024. 

UP NEXT:  The Mountaineers are back in action next weekend with five games at the 2026 Bank of the James Invitational hosted by Longwood Feb. 27 thru Mar. 1.
