EMMITSBURG, Md. (January 28, 2026) – Mount St. Mary's women's basketball heads to New Jersey Thursday evening for a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) showdown with the Rider Broncs.

MOUNT UPDATE
  • The Mountaineers are looking to reverse a two-game losing streak which featured contests where the team excelled on one side of the ball while struggling on the other. This past Thursday, the squad held Quinnipiac to its fourth lowest point total but could not hit buckets in turn, leading to a 56-43 defeat.
  • Last Saturday at home, Merrimack posted 81 points on the Mount's defense to win the contest by 13 points. The concession is the third most for the defense, behind games at Maryland and Richmond.
  • One bright spot in the Saturday game was 10 blocks, including three each from Amber Bullard, Zaria Harleaux, and Jaedyn Jamison. The feat marks double digit blocks for only the second time in the 21st Century, joining 12 rejections against Valley Forge in 2021. The last instance of any Mount team with 10 blocks in a game was March 8, 1991, versus Robert Morris.
  • Since Gabrielle Kennerly's injury against Manhattan, Giana Hoddinott has been the team's leader in points scored, averaging 10.8 per game. Bullard, Alana Powell, Jamison, Berlynn Carlson, and Kayla Lindsey all average between six and nine points.
SCOUTING THE BRONCS
  • Rider also enters the contest looking to shed a three-game losing streak with defeats to Manhattan, Iona, and Saint Peter's.
  • Aliya McIver is the Broncs' best all-around player, leading the team in rebounds per game (6.2), assists per game (3.5), and steals per game (2.3). The junior also leads her squad with 8.7 points per MAAC game and second on the team for the entire season.
  • Kristina Ekofo – a graduate transfer from North Dakota State – continues to lead Rider in points per game after a stellar start to the season. The Belgian averages 10.5 points and 4.8 rebounds.
THE MAAC PICTURE
  • Mount St. Mary's sits in eighth place in the MAAC, holding sole possession of the position. Siena and Manhattan are one-half game ahead at 5-5 and Marist and Saint Peter's are one game back at 4-7.
  • Rider is on the outside looking in for the tournament picture, sitting in 11th place.
ALL-TIME SERIES
  • Thursday is the 31st meeting between the two sides in a series that dates to the 1980s and covers games in the Northeast Conference and the MAAC.
  • The Mount has won four games in a row, winning the games by an average point margin of 15 points, and improving to 5-1 over the Broncs in MAAC contests.
  • Rider last defeated the Mountaineers in 2023, winning a game in overtime in Lawrenceville.
