Mountaineers Fall to Conference Foe Merrimack During Winter Homecoming

EMMITSBURG, Md. (January 24, 2026) – Mount St. Mary's women's basketball fell during the first leg of the winter homecoming by a score of 81-68 to Merrimack in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. With the loss, the Mountaineers fall to an overall record of 9-11 with 5-6 record in the MAAC.
 
Jaedyn Jamison led the day for the Mount, scoring 10 points from the floor while adding four assists, four steals, and five rebounds, completing three blocks on the opposite side of the court. Amber Bullard also added 10 points during the game against the Warriors while contributing seven rebounds and three blocks during her 20 minutes on court. Alana Powell recorded nine points in the game while contributing to the stat pool with a rebound and an assist. Both Zaria Harleaux and Kayla Lindsey recorded nine points in the game, with Lindsey grabbing eight rebounds and Harleaux grabbing six.
 
The Mountaineers shot 37% from the field while going 7-21 from beyond the three-point arc. They also recorded nine steals and grabbed 43 rebounds, completing 10 blocks against their opponents. The team also dished out a combine 13 assists to teammates, with Jamison leading the pack.
 
Mount St. Mary's fought for an early lead to start the first quarter, with a Harleaux driving layup taking a 9-8 lead through four minutes. After Harleaux nailed both of her free throws with five minutes left in the quarter, Merrimack opened up a 16-11 lead before the media timeout. Erin Edmonds made a step back jump shot with two minutes remaining, cutting the deficit to one point, only for Merrimack to return to an offensive run, ending the quarter up 23-17.
 
Merrimack continued their offensive to start the second quarter, opening up a 14-point lead through the first two minutes of the period. Deniz Torgut and Jamison combine for two three-pointers, capping off a back and forth end to the period, with the Warriors retaining a 44-33 lead heading into the halftime break.
 
 
Bullard and Berlynn Carlson combine for back-to-back scores to start the Mountaineer scoring, with Carlson knocking down a three-pointer. Powell and Carlson later combine for back-to-back fast breaks with five minutes left in the quarter while Nyodie Guerrard capitalized on the fast break for the score. Another Edmonds three-pointer rounded out the Mount scoring in the quarter, still down 62-49.
 
 
The Mount and Merrimack combine for back-and-forth field goals before another Lindsey driving layup cut the deficit to 10. A Powell three-pointer came with six seconds left in the forth, but thew deficit was too big for the Mount to attempt a comeback.
