EMMITSBURG, Md. (January 29, 2026) – Redshirt junior
Giana Hoddinott posted career highs in points and free throws while tying her high for assists, pacing Mount St. Mary's women's basketball's collective effort in a 70-59 win over Rider.
Hoddinott scored 18 points, half of which came from the charity stripe. She also dished out six dimes, grabbed four rebounds, and did not turn the ball over once during the contest.
Jaedyn Jamison also registered a career high for points with 13 on the night.
Alana Powell and
Amber Bullard provided 10 points each.
Rider stayed in the game in large part to Kristina Ekofo, who earned a career high 32 points for the Broncs.
With the win Mount St. Mary's improve to 10-11 and 6-6 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). Rider falls to 4-17 (2-10 MAAC).
HOW THE GAME UNFOLDED
- The Mount came out with energy, scoring 12 of the first 16 points. Jamison hit a three-pointer to make it 12-4.
- Rider closed the gap with a 10-2 run to close out the opening quarter.
- Hoddinott hit a triple to give the Mountaineers a 21-14 advantage but Rider rallied to take their first lead at 26-25. Bullard gave the visitors the lead back with four points – a layup and two free throws – for a 29-26 halftime edge.
- Hoddinott led the charge once again out of the half, with critical buckets from Jamison. The Mount led 42-37 at the under five media in the third. Bullard earned six points late in the frame to give the Mountaineers a 52-43 advantage going to the fourth.
- Powell and Nyodie Guerard hit critical buckets down the stretch, which sealed the win along with free throws.
NOTEWORTHY ITEMS
- Mount St. Mary's got to the free throw line 29 times, a season high. Their previous high was 27 at Loyola, where they went 22-for-27. Tonight's 22-for-29 matches free throw makes for the year.
- 12 turnovers for the game match a season-low with last Saturday's defeat to Merrimack.
- The Mount is now 24-7 all-time versus Rider, extending a win streak over the Broncs to five games. They are 7-6 at Alumni Gymnasium in Lawrenceville.
