EMMITSBURG, Md. (January 31, 2026) – Mount St. Mary's women's basketball ran into the offensive prowess of the Saint Peter's Peacocks, who posted their third highest scoring output of the season, handing the Mountaineers a 73-61 defeat Saturday at Knott Arena.
Berlynn Carlson registered the second double-double of her freshman season, scoring 12 points with 10 rebounds.
Amber Bullard scored 11 of the Mount's fourth quarter points to earn a career high of 19 points.
Saint Peter's had four players in double figures. Carys Roy posted 20 points, and Nikola Zdenkova went 6-for-9 from three for 18 points. De'Naya Rippey earned a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Mount St. Mary's is 10-12 and 6-7 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). Saint Peter's improves to 6-15 (5-7 MAAC).
HOW THE GAME UNFOLDED
- Mount St. Mary's held the lead for 5:55, all in the first quarter. Carlson scored to give the Mount a 2-0 lead and Jaedyn Jamison scored a 4-0. Giana Hoddinott hit a three pointer with 2:36 left for a 9-7 edge.
- Zdenkova hit her first triple at 1:25 in the first for a 12-9 Saint Peter's lead, which they kept for the remainder of the contest.
- Cementing their lead was a 19-2 run ballooning the advantage to 30-13. A Carlson layup stood in the middle of an 11-0 run and an 8-0 run. The Peacocks were up 38-22 at half.
- The Mount won the second half 39-35. All 19 of Bullard's points came in the final 20 minutes of play as she went 7-for-7 from the field.
NOTEWORTHY ITEMS
- Mount St. Mary's went 13-of-14 at the charity stripe. Bullard went 5-for-6 and Zaria Harleaux was a perfect 4-for-4.
- The Mountaineers finish the month of January with a 4-6 record.
- Saint Peter's picked up their eighth win all-time against the Mountaineers. It is also their first-ever win as a road team in Emmitsburg.
