ANNAPOLIS, Md. (September 27, 2025) – Mount St. Mary's men's rugby suffered their first loss of the 2025 XV's season, losing out to Navy by a score of 59-19. The team suffers their first loss since April 5, when the Mountaineers lost to Army by a score of 25-13.
The Mountaineers took a halftime lead against the Midshipmen in Annapolis, battling out to a 16-10 lead at the break.
Bastian Brunello slotted away three straight penalty conversions in the 12
th, 23
rd, and 35
th minutes respectively before
Xavier Lock scored in the 41
st minute. Brunello slotted away the ensuing conversion kick to head into halftime with the lead.
Brunello scored another penalty conversion in the 48
th minute, rounding out the Mountaineers scoring on the day. Navy's offense kicked into second gear during the second half, stifling a Mount win.
Lock scored the only try for the Mountaineers in Annapolis while Brunello went 4/4 from penalty conversions and 1/1 conversions after the try.
