EMMITSBURG, Md. (September 25, 2025) – Mount St. Mary's men's water polo hits the road for a three-game, two-day excursion this weekend, starting in Annapolis against Navy on September 27 followed by a double header against No. 19 George Washington and DIII No. 3 Johns Hopkins in D.C. and Baltimore respectively on September 28.
MOUNT UPDATE
Sherif Hosni grabbed his third MAWPC Defensive Player of the Week for his three starts at the Bucknell Invitational last weekend. The New Zealand international recorded 36 saves against opponents, while making 14 saves alone against LIU on September 20.
Aaron Tarr and
Ioannis Skliras also posted impressive appearances in Lewisburg last weekend. Tarr scored 11 goals in three games, including seven against LIU on September 20. He also provided six assists to teammates and completed three steals, including four assists in the game against Salem on September 20. Skliras scored 10 goals against opponents, including seven against Salem on September 20. He also provided eight assists and completed five steals, including four assists against LIU on September 20.
THE OPPONENTS
So far in 2025, Navy have posted a 9-6 record against opponents, gathering wins against Wagner, LIU, No. 16 Harvard, Air Force, and Mount St. Mary's, with their last meeting yielding a 20-7 win for the Midshipmen.
George Washington has posted a record of 4-8 over the course of the season, with wins against No. 15 UC Santa Barbara, Occidental, LIU, and Salem. This will be the first matchup between the Revolutionaries and Mountaineers in the 2025 season.
And Johns Hopkins have posted a record of 10-3 so far in 2025, beating ranked opponents in No. 4 Chapman, No. 8 MIT, and Connecticut College. The Blue Jays owe their only losses of the season to No. 2 Pomona-Pitzer, No. 18 Brown, and Salem.
