EMMITSBURG, Md. (April 21, 2025) – Mount St. Mary's baseball hosts the visiting George Mason Patriots for a Tuesday match up at E.T. Straw Family Stadium. After a tough series loss to Marist in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference last weekend, the Mountaineers will look to improve upon an overall record of 15-23.

MOUNT UPDATE

On Saturday Marist got on the board in the first inning after a leadoff home run to left center put the red foxes up 1-0. The visitors put up another run after the Red Foxes hit a triple to drive in the second run of the game. The Mountaineers cut the deficit to one after a Ty Fredo ground out scored Sam Grube from third to put the first Mount run on the board.

The Red Foxes extended the lead once again in the fourth and the fifth only to be spoiled by Mateo Zeppieri's hot bat sending an opposite field two-run home run over the left field wall to cut the deficit to one once again. A combination of opportune Marist hits and unfortunate errors by the Mountaineer defense led to four Red Fox runs coming across the plate in the top of the ninth creating a run cushion to high to be defeated in the bottom of the inning.

SCOUTING THE PATRIOTS

George Mason has compiled an overall record of 26-14 with an Atlantic 10 conference record 12-6 while winning series against Dayton, St. Bonaventure, VCU, and UMass while sweeping Saint Louis in three games. The Patriots have also recorded wins against East Carolina, William & Mary, Holy Cross, Towson, JMU, and Monmouth as the Patriots outscored the Hawks by a score of 37-16 in a series sweep.
