EMMITSBURG, Md. (March 31, 2025) – Mount St. Mary's baseball hosts George Washington on Tuesday afternoon in Emmitsburg for the second match up of the year between the Mountaineers and the Revolutionaries. With their win against Merrimack on Sunday, March 30, the Mount moved to a MAAC record of 6-6 with a overall record of 12-14.
MOUNT UPDATE
On Sunday against Merrimack, the game stayed silent through the first inning, but a two-run home run hit out by
Mateo Zeppieri opened the flood gates for the Mountaineers.
Ty Fredo added a run with his third inning blast to put the Mountaineers up 3-1. In the top of the fourth,
Ethan Flaugher scored a run followed by a two-run home run from
Nick Fleming, driving in
Evan Meier. In the top of the seventh,
Nolan Book drive in
Sam Grube off of a single followed by
Bryce Rudisill grounding into a fielder's choice, scoring Fredo to cap of a two-run inning. Meier went onto score the team's final run in the top of the eight after
Sam Grube singled to drive him in, rounding out a comfortable conference win for the Mount.
Both Fredo and Meier went 2-5 from the plate today, with Fredo hitting a solo home run in the top of the third. Fleming, Flaugher and Grue all recorded hits against Warriors in the final game, with Fleming's homerun adding on insurance for the Mountaineers early in the game.
Jakob Foster started the game, accumulating 3.0 innings pitched with two strikeouts. And
Eli DeRossi was accredited with the win after 6.0 innings of work with three strikeouts.
SCOUTING THE REVOLUTIONARIES
Since their late meeting with the Mountaineers, George Washington has played out to a 15-12 record with a 5-4 record in the Atlantic 10. The Revolutionaries have gone 5-2 since their match up with the Mount on March 18, winning against the Virginia Military Institute and notching series wins against George Mason and Rhode Island.
Ellis Schwartz leads the team in the offensive categories with a .361 batting average and a qualified OPS of 1.050 while also hitting out four homeruns, driving in 21 RBIs and recording 59 total bases. Michael Foltz jr. leads the pitching staff with a qualified ERA of 5.15 with a 2-4 record and 31 strikeouts through 36.2 innings pitched.
