LEWISBURG, Pa. (January 8, 2025) – Mount St. Mary's women's water polo split their matches on the first day of the Bucknell Invitational with a 16-10 win over Siena and a 17-12 defeat to Saint Francis. With the results of today's play, the Mountaineers stand at a 7-3 record before resumption of play tomorrow.
In the first game of the day, the Mountaineers started off close with the Saints, fighting ahead to win the first quarter 4-3. An even 2-2 quarter was played in the second heading into halftime before the Mount fired five past Siena in the third while only letting up a single goal in the period. Five more goals followed in the fourth for a 5-4 quarter victory for the Mount and a win against the Saints.
Anna Kegel's four goals pushed the junior over the 100-career goal mark, becoming the third person to accomplish the feat in program history.
Rebecca Valentine put five past the Saints defense while drawing an exclusion.
Anita Radaelli also chimed in with two goals and three assists of her own while the Italian drew three exclusions and completed a single steal. And
Olivia Fernie completed 13 saves in the cage in her first appearance back in the pool since the opening weekend of the season.

In the second match of the day against Saint Francis, the Red Flash got started on a hot streak, putting seven goals past the Mountaineers in the first quarter to three goals conceded. Four more goals followed for Saint Francis heading into half time while only allowing two Mount goals. But in the third quarter, the Mountaineers responded back, playing out to a 5-3 quarter win with one time period remaining. But a resurgent Red Flash side played out to a close 3-2 quarter win and a victory at the end of full-time.
Radaelli scored twice off five attempts while notching two assists and completing two steals.
Leilani Horan recorded a hat trick of goals while providing an assist and a steal. And
Maria Boix Pascual scored a solo goal while providing an assist and completing a steal. Both Fernie and
Becca Enquist split time in goal, with Fernie recording two saves and Enquist recording seven.
