THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. (February 26, 2025) – Mount St. Mary's women's water polo ended their first game of their California Tour with a 13-10 victory over California Lutheran on Wednesday. With this win, the Mountaineers move to a 10-3 record on the season.
Scoring started fast and early, with
Rebecca Valentine goal followed by a early brace from
Anita Radaelli to cap of the scoring for the Mountaineers in a hotly contested 3-3 first quarter. The Mount edged California Lutheran in second quarter by a score of 3-2 with two goals from Valentine and a goal from
Beatrice Vieira before the halftime intermission. Four goals came in the third with two scores from Radaelli once again and a brace from
Anna Kegel in the quarter. With a narrow 10-8 lead heading into the final quarter, the game was sealed by two more goals fired in from Vieira and a final score from Kegel to round off a win for the Mountaineers.
Radaelli lead off the offense with four goals, an assist, three completed steals, and a drawn exclusion. During the match, hat tricks were scored by Vieira, Kegel, and Valentine, to round out the scoring for the Mount.
Leilani Horan notched four assists for her teammates in the contest and
Olivia Fernie made 10 saves in goal for the Mountaineers against the Regals.
