EMMITSBURG, Md. (February 25, 2025) – Mount St. Mary's baseball travels to the Eastern Shore of Maryland on February 26 to face off against Maryland Eastern Shore at 3:00 p.m. The Mountaineers look to improve upon their 5-1 start with a win against the Hawks in their single game matchup.

MOUNT UPDATE

The Mountaineers won their series against Saint Joseph's last weekend by two games to one with a 6-3 win in Philadelphia on Sunday, February 23. A Bryce Rudisill three-run walk off home run sealed a seven-run 10-7 comeback win over the Hawks in game one while the Mount lost game two 7-0 in a seven-inning game.

In game one of their series against the Hawks, the Mount was down by a score of 7-3 in the bottom of the ninth with one out on the board when their ascension to the lead began. The rally in the ninth began with a two-run home run by Mateo Zeppieri. Sam Grube batted Nick Fleming in followed by a single from Ty Fredo, scoring Jake Maske to tie up the ball game. With two outs on the board, Rudisill sent a ball towering out to right, barely slipping over the fence to send the dugout into wonderland while completing a seven-run comeback in the inning.

Fredo leads the team with a slash line of .417/.500/.667 while accruing a OPS of 1.167 along with two home runs, seven RBIs, and 16 total bases. Zeppieri has collected 21 total bases while hitting two home runs and driving in seven RBIs with a team best 1.282 OPS. Serigne Sarre leads the team's pitching corps in innings pitched with 11.2 while accruing an ERA of 0.77 and a WHIP of .94 with a team-leading 19 strikeouts in two starts. Maximus McCrary has gone 6.0 innings for the Mountaineers this season in two appearances while striking out five batters and retaining a 0.00 ERA.

SCOUTING THE HAWKS

Maryland Eastern Shore baseball team snapped a 54-game losing streak with a 14-7 win over Towson on Saturday, February 22nd. The Hawks have started their season with a 1-6 record with a four-game series loss to the Virginia Military Institute and a 2-1 series loss to Towson rounding out Maryland Eastern Shore's start. From the plate, Ryan Davis has recorded a batting average of .435 and a OPS of 1.283 with six RBIs, two home runs, two walks, and 12 total bases. And Diego Aponte has recorded a OPS of .887 with a .360 batting average with two walks, six RBIs and 12 total bases.
