FAIRFIELD, Conn. (March 29, 2026) – Mount St. Mary's baseball rounded out their Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference weekend at Scared Heart with a 9-6 win over the Pioneers in game three to take the series on Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Mountaineers leveled their MAAC record back to 6-6 while claiming their twelfth win of 2026.
Sacred Heart jumped out to an early 3-0 lead through the first two innings of game three on Sunday afternoon, only for the Mountaineers to get on the board in the top of the third after
Alex Mendes reached base on an error, scoring
Ty Fredo. After Fredo touched homeplate, the Pioneers exploded on offense, scoring three more runs in the bottom of the fourth, rounding out their series scoring efforts.
But from the fourth inning on, the Mountaineer bats once again proved pivotal at the plate. The comeback began in the top of the fifth as a
Bryce Rudisill single scored
Evan Meier for the away team's second run of the game. Mendes batted Fredo in again later in the inning followed by a
Sam Meyer sacrifice fly to left field that scored Rudisill, cutting the run deficit to two with four innings remaining.
Later in the top of the sixth inning,
Christian Bauman flew out to centerfield, scoring
Mike Toth from the sacrifice fly. Mendes once again proved pivotal at the plate in the top of the ninth, knocking Fredo with a single down the right field line to tie the game up. An at-bat later,
Carson Clark singled to right, scoring both Meyer and Mendes before Clark scored on a stolen base attempt by
Mike Toth, rounding out the comeback and the series victory.
