EMMITSBURG, Md. (April 1, 2026) – Mount St. Mary's baseball hits the road this weekend for a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference series with Siena from April 2-4, with first pitch on Thursday slatted for 3:00p.m. in Loudonville. After their away series win against Sacred Heart last weekend, the Mountaineers now own a 6-6 record in the MAAC with a 12-13 record overall.
MOUNT UPDATE
During game one in Fairfield, Sacred Heart's Donahue led the game off with a home run in the bottom of the first inning to get the Pioneers on the board early. But the Mountaineers rebounded in their half of the third as
Christian Bauman doubled, scoring
Evan Meier while being batted in later in the first by
Alex Mendes for a 2-1 lead. Sacred Heart tied the game up once more in the bottom of the third to make it a 2-2 ball game.
The Mount bats returned an inning later as Same Meyer scored off a
Carson Clark single to retake the lead. Later in the Mount fourth,
Christian Bauman hit out a sacrifice fly to right field, scoring
Nate Wiles from third to take a 4-2 lead. Another Mount run came across home plate in the top of the seventh, as Mendes batted Bauman in to make it a three-run ballgame.
The Pioneers rebounded in the bottom of the seventh, sending two more runs home before another Bauman single to centerfield scored Wiles again for the final run of the game, rounding out the win.
On the mound in game one,
Serigne Sarre earned his second win of the year, tossing six innings of two run baseball while racking up 10 strikeouts against the Pioneers. Max McCrary entered the game for two thirds of an inning before
JB Manarchuck took the mound for the Mount, striking out three in 2.1 innings from the bullpen, earning his fifth save of the year.
Sacred Heart jumped out to an early 3-0 lead through the first two innings of game three on Sunday afternoon, only for the Mountaineers to get on the board in the top of the third after
Alex Mendes reached base on an error, scoring
Ty Fredo. After Fredo touched home plate, the Pioneers exploded on offense, scoring three more runs in the bottom of the fourth, rounding out their series scoring efforts.
But from the fourth inning on, the Mountaineer bats once again proved pivotal at the plate. The comeback began in the top of the fifth as a
Bryce Rudisill single scored
Evan Meier for the away team's second run of the game. Mendes batted Fredo in again later in the inning followed by a
Sam Meyer sacrifice fly to left field that scored Rudisill, cutting the run deficit to two with four innings remaining.
Later in the top of the sixth inning,
Christian Bauman flew out to centerfield, scoring
Mike Toth from the sacrifice fly. Mendes once again proved pivotal at the plate in the top of the ninth, knocking Fredo with a single down the right field line to tie the game up. An at-bat later,
Carson Clark singled to right, scoring both Meyer and Mendes before Clark scored on a stolen base attempt by
Mike Toth, rounding out the comeback and the series victory.
MANARCHUCK ON THE MOUND
For his efforts from the bullpen during this past weekend's series win away at Sacred Heart,
JB Manarchuck was named MAAC Pitcher of the Week by the Conference office on Tuesday afternoon.
While in Fairfield, the redshirt Junior from Burke, Virginia tallied seven strikeouts in 4.1 innings from the bullpen. On March 27 against the Pioneers, Manarchuck tallied two and a third innings of mound work in relief, striking out three batters while earning his fifth save of the year. On March 29, Manarchuck returned the field again, this time striking out four Sacred Heart batsmen while earning his second win of the year. Remaining flawless on the mound, Manarchuck also dropped his season ERA to 1.74, leading the Mountaineer reliever corps through 20.2 innings pitched.
SCOUTING THE SAINTS
Through the 2026 season, Siena has recorded a record of 7-17 with a 3-9 record in the MAAC. The Saint recorded a series win against Fairfield while a lone win against Niagara rounds out their positive results in conference. Other notable wins for Siena in 2026 have come against UMASS, UMES, and Stony Brook.
Leading the way for the saints at the plate is Matt Thorsen, who through 21 games played, has notched a slash line of .353/.382/.488 while recording 10 runs and 26 total bases. Aidan Paradine has recorded a team leading 16 RBIs with three homeruns and four doubles as well.

The Mountaineers are currently riding a two-game win Streak against the Saints, with the Mount first playing Siena in 2023, owning a 2-1 record against Siena. This weekend will also play host to the first ever away matchup for the Mount in Loudonville.
