EMMITSBURG, Md. (February 18, 2025) – With no more newcomers left on the schedule, Mount St. Mary's faces repeat Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) opponents the rest of the way. Coming up on Thursday, the Mountaineers battle Saint Peter's for the second time this month with a game in Jersey City.

MOUNT UPDATES & NOTES
  • Overcoming a second half deficit, Mount St. Mary's defeated Canisius by the final of 72-59. Earning their 10th win in MAAC play, the Mount clinched one of the 10 spots in the conference tournament in Atlantic City.
  • The team stands in fourth place with their 10-4 record and have cleared two and a half games of fifth place Iona. They also remain one-half game behind third place Siena.
  • Jo Raflo led the charge in the comeback over Canisius, scoring 17 points in the fourth quarter on the way to a 28-point effort. Combined with 17 points in the win against Niagara, she took MAAC Player of the Week honors this past Monday. The senior collected the honor for the second time this season.
  • Raflo's point total came with 11 field goals last Saturday, tying a career high. Her field goal count now rises to 355, good for 950 points – 50 away from being the 31st player in program history to score 1,000 points.
  • Freshmen Madison Ruff and Nyodie Guerard registered double digits in Saturday's win. Ruff continues to lead all Mount bench players in points per game at 7.5. Guerard tied her career high with 11, bumping her average up to 4.5 per contest.
  • Anna LeMaster continues to lead the MAAC in three-pointers per game and three-point percentage. Gabrielle Kennerly is now 10th in the MAAC for three-pointers per game. Giana Hoddinott and Tessa Engelman are also top 10 contributors, with Hoddinott tabulating 3.7 assists per game and Engelman 1.1 blocks.
  • Playing the Peacocks three weeks ago, Mount St. Mary's won a 79-59 decision. Raflo earned a double-double of 20 points and 12 rebounds, and LeMaster and Kennerly chipped in double figure scoring efforts.

SCOUTING SAINT PETER'S
  • Since battling the Mount back on February 1, the Peacocks are 2-2 with victories over Manhattan and Rider, along with defeats against Siena and Fairfield. At 6-8 in MAAC play, the team is tied for eighth with Canisius.
  • Fatmata Janneh is their x-factor, continuing to lead SPU in points and rebounds. Her 10.5 boards lead all MAAC players, and her 18.4 points are second-best behind Sacred Heart's Ny'Ceara Pryor. The sophomore posted double-doubles in each of their last two wins and finished the game against the Mount with 26 points and 18 rebounds.
  • Louella Allana leads the MAAC in assists, dishing out 5.7 assists per game. She registered 10 assists in a win over Niagara back in January.

With a record of 8-6 in Mount's favor, the all-time series with the Peacocks dates to 1975. Since joining the MAAC, the Mountaineers have won each of the five meetings.
