EMMITSBURG, Md. (February 18, 2025) – Mount St. Mary's baseball claimed all three Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference awards for the past week's play, with
Ty Fredo being named the MAAC Player of the Week and
Serigne Sarre being named both Pitcher and Rookie of the Week by the conference office on Tuesday.
Fredo claimed the Player of the Week award for his three games against Norfolk State where he batted .538 with an OPS of 1.588. The sophomore from West Caldwell, New Jersey hit out two home runs and knocked in six RBI's, totaling 13 bases against the Spartans.
Sarre was awarded with both the Pitcher and Rookie of the week with his efforts in the 6-0 victory over Norfolk State. The freshman from Takoma Park, Maryland logged 13 strikeouts in 7.0 innings of work for the Mountaineers. Giving up only one hit in his first win of the year, Sarre logged a opponent batting average of .048 while walking one batter.
UPCOMING
The Mountaineers open their 2025 home campaign next weekend at E.T. Straw Family Stadium with a double-header against Saint Joseph's on Saturday, February 22, with first pitch scheduled for 11:00 a.m. The team travels to Philadelphia on February 23 to play the Hawks away for the third game of the series.
