EMMITSBURG, Md. (October 7, 2025) – Traveling to the Nutmeg State for a midweek showdown, Mount St. Mary's women's soccer takes on Fairfield Wednesday afternoon.
MOUNT UPDATE
A 24
th-minute goal off a rebounded save proved to be the difference this past Saturday, as the Mount fell 1-0 to the Sacred Heart Pioneers. Despite defeat,
Abigail Makela had a strong performance in goal, recording nine saves—a new career high. On offense, the team hopes the trip to Fairfield will help snap a scoring drought that has stretched over 300 minutes.
SCOUTING THE STAGS
Fairfield is a perennial power in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), and the 2025 squad is no exception, with positive results in all six league matches. Maddy Theriault and Ashley McMahon rank among the MAAC's top 10 in scoring, leading a Stags team that has tallied 25 goals this season. On defense, Fairfield conceded only eight goals, with primary goalkeeper Katie Wright making 34 saves.
THE ALL-TIME SERIES
Mount St. Mary's heads to Fairfield in search of its first win in the series, now in its fifth meeting. Last year, the Mount came close to earning a draw, but a ball into the box found Theriault who slotted home the game-winner in a 1-0 decision.
LOOKING AHEAD
This Saturday (Oct. 11), the Mountaineers return home to host the Iona Gaels in a noon kickoff. The match is the first of a doubleheader, with the men's team facing Manhattan later that afternoon.
