EMMITSBURG, Md. (October 31, 2025) – Mount St. Mary's men's and women's swimming and diving travel to Charm City for the second time in as many weeks for a dual-meet against Johns Hopkins on Saturday, November 1. At the Thomas Murphy Invitation last weekend, the Mountaineers posted top time for the MAAC while swimming well above their weight against good regional competition.
MOUNT UPDATE
On day one of the Thomas Murphy Invitational, the relay team of
Theodora Kanellopoulou,
Christina Lazari,
Eve Phillips, and
Madison Murphy placed fifth in the A Final of the women's 200-Yard Medley Relay with a time of 1:44.83.
Carmen Del Aguila placed first in the B Final of the women's 500-Yard Freestyle with a time of 4:55.28. And
Lauren Wetzel placed first in the C Final of the women's 200-Yard Intermediate with a time of 2:10.58.
The men's 200-Yard Medley Relay team of
Todor Gospodinov,
Adam Jozsa,
Parker Koenig, and
Austin Toland placed fifth in the A Final with a time of 1:30.43. Gospodinov placed first in the B Final of the men's 200-Yard Intermediate with a time of 1:51.52. And
Lucas Hancock placed fourth in the B Final of the Men's 50 Yard Freestyle event with a time of 20.95.
Following the times on day one, day two started with the relay team of
Hanna Aggen, Lazari, Del Aguila, and Murphy finishing sixth in the women's 400-Yard Individual Medley Relay with a time of 3:53.02. The relay team of
Emily Myers,
Cecilia Hetzel, Kanellopoulou, and Phillips finished the same event in 11
th place with a time of 3:57.93. Del Aguila followed up her relay performance with a first-place finish in the B Final of the women's 400-Yard IM with a time of 4:29.67. And Kanellopoulou finished seventh in the women's 100-Yard Backstroke with a time of 57.50.
The men's 400-Yard Medley Relay team of Gospodinov, Jozsa, Koenig, and Toland finished sixth in the event with a time of 3:21.24. Koenig continued on his good form from the first day after a time of 20.90 in the 50-Yard Freestyle with a time of 49.67 in the men's 100-Yard Butterfly, claiming first place in the B Final. And Jozsa placed sixth in the A Final of the men's 100-Yard Breaststroke with a time of 55.54.
And on day three, the relay team of Del Aguila, Murphy, Lazari, and Phillips placed sixth in the women's 400-Yard Freestyle Relay with a time of 3:31.49. Del Aguila placed second in the B Final of the women's 200-Yard Backstroke with a time of 2:05.14. Lazari also won the B Final of the women's 100-Yard Freestyle with a time of 52.33.
In the men's 400-Yard Freestyle Relay, the team of
Antonio Gurri,
Lucas Hancock, Jozsa, and Toland placed twelfth with a time of 3:09.96. Jozsa placed fifth in the men's 200-Yard Breaststroke with a time of 2:03.43. And Gospodinov finished third in the A Final of the men's 200-Yard Backstroke with a time of 1:47.68.
SCOUTING THE BLUE JAYS
Johns Hopkins men's swim and dive have compiled a record of 3-0 in the Centennial Conference to start the year, outscoring Washington College McDaniel, and Gettysburg by a collective score of 603-167. The Blue Jays women's swimming and diving team have outscored opponents 795.5-225.5, tallying four wins against Bryn Mawr, Washington College, McDaniel, and Gettysburg.

November 1 will play host to the first ever dual meet between Johns Hopkins and Mount St. Mary's swimming and diving on both the men's and women's side of the competition.
