Carmen Del Aguila and
Todor Gospodinov claimed Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference weekly honors for their efforts at this past weekend's ECAC Winter Championships. With the conference office naming the sophomore from Granada, Spain women's swimmer of the week and the freshman from Stara Zagora, Bulgaria men's rookie of the week.
In East Meadow, New York at this past weekend's Winter Championships, Del Aguila recorded six first places finishes across the three days, including four finals finishes in the top spot. Del Aguila won the women's 400-Yard IM with a time of 4:24.51, chopping 5.16 seconds from her previous time. Dominating the women's distance events once again, Del Aguila won the women's 500-Yard Freestyle with a time of 4:51.64, slashing 3.64 seconds off her previous time. In the women's 400-Yard Medley Relay and women's 400-Yard Free Relay, Del Aguila contributed to team times of 3:48.18 and 3:26.18 respectively, winning both events in the process.
At ECAC's, Gospodinov record one finals win in the men's 200-Yard IM, penciling a time of 1:49.21 while recording two other Prelim finishes in first place. In the prelims of the men's 100-Yard Backstroke, Gospodinov recorded a time of 49.34 while placing third in the finals of the event with a time of 48.77. During the prelims of the men's 200-Yard Backstroke, Gospodinov recorded a first-place time of 1:50.18 while finishing the finals leg of the race in second with a time of 1:46.64. Gospodinov was also a part of the men's 800-Yard Freestyle Relay team that finished the event with a time of 6:56.33, chopping a whopping 12.04 seconds off their previous time.
