IRVINE, Calif. (October 2, 2025) – Mount St. Mary's men's water polo fell to a close 14-11 score to Concordia on Thursday in their warm-up match for the upcoming Gary Troyer Tournament. With the loss to the Golden Eagles, the Mount falls to 6-12

Under the sunny skies of Irvine, the Mountaineers found themselves down 5-4 after the elapse of the first quarter.
Chrysostomos Valavanis found the next for the first two goals of the match from the hole-set thanks to passes into traffic from
Ioannis Skliras.
Alexandros Belesis got on the score sheet with a penalty in the first followed by a rifled shot from the five-meter line from
Aaron Tarr, down 5-4 through the first period.
Ioannis Skliras got things started in the second quarter tying the game within the first minute of the second.
Jack Fox got on the score sheet from open play followed by another scored penalty from Belesis heading into halftime down 10-7. The Mountaineers were held scoreless in the first while Concordia two on the board for a five-goal lead.
Concordia scored to start the fourth quarter followed up by a brilliant give and go goal from Tarr with three seconds on the shot clock. Fox and Belesis once again found the net through the quarter, with Tarr following up with his third goal of the day, rounding out the loss for the Mountaineers.
Tarr led the Mountaineers on the day with a hat trick from six shots, with the South African providing two assists and completing three steals. Belesis, Valavanis, and Fox all scored a double while Skliras got on the board with one. Skliras also recorded three assists, three completed steals, and two drawn penalties.
Sherif Hosni recorded 14 saves while completing two steals in goal for the Mountaineers.

The Mountaineers return to action tomorrow, October 3, in day one of the Gary Troyer Tournament, facing off against Cal State Fullerton, and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at 2 p.m. (ET) and 5:45 (ET) respectively.
