Women’s Lacrosse Welcomes Chandler Stewart as Assistant Coach

EMMITSBURG, Md. (August 15, 2024) – Mount St. Mary's women's lacrosse head coach Lauren Skellchock adds a third member to the team's coaching staff, announcing the hire of Chandler Stewart as assistant coach.

Stewart comes to the Mount after completing her playing career at Campbell University in North Carolina. A four-year starter on defense, she logged 120 ground balls and 98 caused turnovers, leading to a Second Team All-Big South selection in 2021 and a First Team nod in 2023. Stewart set a single season record for ground balls at 58 and ranked as high as 11th nationwide in GBs per game at 3.05.

"We are thrilled to welcome Chandler to our staff!" Skellchock said. "She had a very successful playing career at Campbell, and we can't wait for her to bring her experience, passion for the game, and leadership to our program! I know our players will love her energy and we look forward to having her in our Mount Lacrosse family."

Alongside her playing experience, Stewart obtained work experience as a graduate assistant for the Fighting Camels, as well as being a club coach for Team 91 in the Raleigh, North Carolina metro. Originally from Maryland, she also applied her major in Exercise and Sport Science as a technician for MMI and a performance coach internship at MADD Fitness in Frederick.

While competing and working, she also served as a SAAC representative at Campbell and was a member of Mindful Monday, a team leadership group.

She graduated from Campbell with a bachelor's degree in 2023, and is pursuing a Master's of Education from the institution. Stewart returns to Frederick County, where she resided in Adamstown and was a standout for Tuscarora High School.
