EMMITSBURG, Md. (May 30, 2024) – A group of four Mount St. Mary's baseball alumni continue to make their mark in the world of Minor League Baseball. Trey McGough, Brady Fiegl, Jordan Geber, and
Cooper Adams – all pitchers – represent the Mount from A ball to Triple-A.
McGough – originally a Pittsburgh Pirates draft selection – is now in his first season in the Baltimore Orioles organization. After 12 games with the AA Bowie Baysox as a reliever, he earned promotion to the Triple A Norfolk Tides. As of May 28, he is 1-0 with a 1.80 ERA and 31 strikeouts across 25 innings of work this season. Drafted in 2019, McGough has pitched in 71 games with 28 starts, winning 12 games with a career ERA of 3.10.
Fiegl is a veteran of the circuit, beginning his career in 2014. He now pitches with the Pirates' AAA affiliate Indianapolis Indians. He holds a 6-1 record with a 3.00 in his first return to affiliated ball since 2019. Fiegl has also pitched in the Braves and Rangers farm systems, reaching AAA Gwinnett with Atlanta and Texas' top tier minor league teams in Round Rock and Nashville. He is 23-8 over his minor league career with a 2.77 ERA and 214 strikeouts.
Geber is in his third minor league campaign after being signed by the New York Mets. Beginning the year in Brooklyn, he made the jump to AA Binghamton in early May. Combined between the two teams, he boasts a 2-2 record with a 2.92 ERA and an average of one strikeout per inning. Geber signed with the Mets after a brief stint with the nearby Frederick Keys and has pitched for St. Lucie along with Brooklyn and Binghamton.
Adams became the most recent addition to the Mount's professional ranks, after signing with the Boston Red Sox this past offseason. He was assigned to High-A Greenville, where he has made five starts and eight appearances for the Drive. So far, his ERA stands at 4.94 over 31 innings pitched with 23 strikeouts. Adams began his minor league career with two scoreless outings against Greensboro and Bowling Green.
