EMMITSBURG, Md. (May 13th, 2024) – Mount St. Mary's is set to host their final regular season home game of the 2024 season at E.T. Straw Family Stadium tomorrow against the Coppin State Eagles at 3 p.m.
MOUNT UPDATE
The Mountaineers are coming off a 2-1 series win over the Canisius Golden Griffins after splitting the doubleheader on Sunday. The Mount performed in two commanding wins, the first the series opener, 7-1, and the second 15-4 in game one of the doubleheader.
Ty Stecko and
Nick Fleming posted their first home runs of the season and of their collegiate careers after Stecko knocked a grand slam over left field in game one while Fleming ripped a solo shot over right field in game two.
Scott Seeker leads the team in the box with a .328 average while scoring 45 runs, knocking 14 doubles, a triple, nine home runs, and 48 RBIs.
Tyler Long bats .311 with 45 runs scored, four doubles, a triple, five homers, and 29 RBIs.
Deven Sheerin broke the school record over the weekend for most strikeouts in a single season as the freshman arm sits at 94, shattering the previous record of 88 held by Dustin Pease in the 2004 season.
SCOUTING COPPIN STATE
The Eagles are 12-29 overall on the season with a 4-19 away record while posing 11-18 in the Northeast Conference (NEC). Leading the team's bats is Anthony Divittorio batting .305 with 27 runs scored, 34 RBIs, six doubles, and three home runs.
Nico Felber leads the team on the mound yielding an 8.03 ERA through 61 2/3 innings with 43 strikeouts and is 2-8 on the year.
