NEW ROCHELLE, NY (April 25th, 2024) – Mount St. Mary's makes the quick turnaround to go to New Rochelle, New York to compete against the Iona Gaels in a three-day weekend series beginning Friday at 1 p.m.
 
MOUNT UPDATE:
 
Mount St. Mary's is on a three-game winning streak after shutting Navy down at home and back-to-back wins at Maryland Eastern Shore winning the first game 19-1 and game two 9-5. The Mountaineers posted 18 hits in game one after Evan Smith cranked two home runs while Scott Seeker hit his ninth with a grand slam.
 
TJ Curley pitched five scoreless innings, allowed just three hits while fanning four batters to earn the first win of his collegiate career as a Mountaineer. JB Manarchuck opened game two to pitch five innings and earn his first win of the season.
 
Tied in the batters' box in terms of batting average is Scott Seeker and JT Landwehr, both batting .319, while Efrain Correa, Jr. displays an average of .316. Seeker has scored 37 runs, posted 10 doubles, nine homers, and 39 RBIs.
 
SCOUTING IONA
 
The Gaels are 10-27 overall on the season with 6-2 home record, while posting a 5-10 conference record positioning them in eighth in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, one spot ahead of the Mount.
 
Leading the team in the box is Josiah Ragsdale with a .381 average. Ragsdale has 33 runs scored, 5 home runs and 27 RBIs. He is the only player batting over .300. Andrelys Payamps leads the team on the mount yielding an ERA of 5.91 with 47 strikeouts through 42 2/3 innings and is 4-3 on the year.
 
HISTORY WITH IONA
 
The only series being played in the 2013 season, the Mountaineers are 2-1 over the Gaels on the Diamond. After opening the series with a 10-7 win, they dropped the middle game, but stole the series after winning game three 10-5 on February 16th, 2013.
