Mount Softball Falls to Rider in Final Game of Series

Box Score Lawrenceville, N.J. (April 24, 2024)—Mount St. Mary's fell in the final game of its three-game series at Rider, 6-2, on Wednesday afternoon.  Tori Bowles hit a two-run double for the Mount in the game.
Bowles gave the Mount the early lead with her two-run double in the top of the first inning.  Abigayle Perry walked and Julia Vicent reached on a fielder's choice to set the table for Bowles, the Mount's RBI leader this year.

The Broncs (20-24, 12-6) took advantage of a Mount miscue to score three runs (one earned) in the bottom of the first inning.  Rider then added three more unearned runs in the fourth to make it a 6-2 advantage.

Olivia Murphy started for the Mount, allowing three runs (one earned) in two innings of work.  Sophia Schmehl pitched 1.2 innings of relief, allowing three unearned runs.  Maddie Coleman closed out the game with 2.1 innings of scoreless relief.

Elizabeth King had a pair of hits for the Mount (10-28, 3-14 MAAC) offense while Perry went 1-for-2 with two walks and a run scored.  Bowles finished 1-for-2 with a double and two RBI.

The Mount is back in action this weekend with a three-game MAAC series at Iona.
