EMMITSBURG, Md. (April 20, 2024) – The 4x100 relay team of
Trevin McHargh,
Todd Charles,
Bah Abdoulaye, and
Miles Moore made strides at South Carolina, and
Will Stephenson won the 400 hurdles at Bucknell, headlining performances by Mount St. Mary's track & field at a pair of meets this week.
At the USC Open, the relay team finished with a time of 40.88 in a competitive field, placing sixth. The time is good for third place among Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) competitors. Battling with fellow MAAC team Iona, the Mountaineer quartet finished 0.13 seconds back of Iona, providing a good barometer of where they stand among top conference challengers.
Stephenson won the 400 hurdles with a time of 55.52 seconds at the Bucknell Team Challenge, triumphing in a field of 16 athletes. Teammate
Joseph Poleate came fourth at the same event. The effort by Stephenson ranks him second in the MAAC.
The five Mountaineer athletes represent two of eight times and marks receiving top 5 placements among conference challengers.
Rebecca Weir upped her game in the javelin with a 41.53 meter throw that leads the league.
Julia Kirschnick ranks second in the 100 hurdles with a 14.42 second time, and
Tyler Cash is second in the pole vault behind
Arran Fahey at 4.50 meters.
Darren Hook threw the shot put for 14.35 meters to rank fourth.
Nando Meggs is fifth for the long jump with a 6.89 meter distance, as is
Jovana Miloradovic who jumped 11.30 meters in the triple jump.
One final regular season meet is on schedule for April 27, when members of the team travel to Saint Francis University.
