EMMITSBURG, Md. (April 14, 2024) - Mount St. Mary's track & field competed in meets at Princeton and James Madison University, yielding positive results for some athletes, especially in the javelin and pole vault.
At Princeton's Larry Ellis Invitational, the trio of
Lorelai Paxton,
Tierney McCarroll, and
Rebecca Weir achieved top ten finishes. Paxton's distance of 39.77 meters and McCarroll's 38.22 meters both improved on marks from earlier this year and were good for top five status among MAAC competitors. A PR was also in the cards for Paxton, as did
Andrew Lamanna at JMI with 43.60 meters.
The pole vaulting duo of
Arran Fahey and
Emelie Beckman continued to excel. Fahey was runner-up at Larry Ellis with a distance of 4.95 meters, retaining his top mark in the MAAC. Beckman earned 3.65 meters which is good for the second-best distance in the conference and led a strong contigent of Mountaineers.
Ella Dougher's 3.50 meters now ranks fourth,
Evyn Fitzgerald's 3.20 meters is eighth, and
Tara Coyne's 2.75 meters is 10th. On the men's side,
Matthew Grossman vaulted to 3.50 meters at JMU, placing him fourth in the league.
Top five finishers for the Mount included a third place time of 10:18.53 for Riley Keffer in the steeplechase, fourth place distances for
Levi Zilneus in the high jump (1.90 meters) and Najahyne Watson in the triple jump (13.52 meters), and Jeffrey Stupski coming in fifth in the javelin (40.00 meters). The men's 4x100 relay team of
Trevin McHargh,
Bah Abdoulaye,
Todd Charles, and
Miles Moore took fourth at Princeton, running the event in 41.40 seconds.
