Emmitsburg, Md. (March 7, 2024)--The Mount St. Mary's softball team has adjusted its schedule for the weekend. Today's game with Boston College has been cancelled due to last night's rain. In addition, the Mount's weekend schedule has also been adjusted.
On Friday, the Mount will now host Howard at 3:00 p.m. at Our Lady of the Meadows Field on campus. No games will be played on Saturday with the expected rain. On Sunday, Niagara joins the Mount and Howard for a three-game round robin. Howard and Niagara will play at 11:00 a.m., the Mount will host Howard at 1:00 p.m., and the Mount will face Niagara in a non-conference matchup at 3:00 p.m.
The Mountaineers will be in action for the first time since playing at the Jane Sanders Classic this past weekend at the University of Oregon. The Mount dropped a pair of games to both host Oregon and Washington at the tournament.Â
Tori Bowles hit .500 (3-for-6) over the weekend in Oregon, and she leads the team with a .379 average this season.Â
Abigayle Perry leads the team with a .405 on-base percentage and is tied with Bowles for the team lead with six RBI.
Howard enters the weekend with a 15-5 record after sweeping Hampton in a doubleheader on Tuesday. The Bison earned a 4-3 win in the opening game and then posted a 6-2 win in game two. Maryn Jordan leads the team with a .467 average while Bianca Worthy is hitting .453 while leading the team with 17 runs scored and 14 RBI. Mia Gonzaelz (6-0, 2.56 ERA) and Amelia Weber (6-2, 3.39 ERA) have handled the majority of the stats while Julia Holt has a 1.35 ERA adn three saves in 10 appearances.
Niagara opened the season by going 1-5 at the Cowgirl Classic in Lake Charles, La., on Feb. 23-25. The win was a 5-2 victory over North Dakota. Selah Moyer hit .462 at the tournament with a double and home run. Maddie Hickingbottom went 1-1 with a 4.29 ERA in three starts.
