EMMITSBURG, Md. (March 22, 2024) – Back in Emmitsburg for the first time since March 5, Mount St. Mary's men's lacrosse hosts Wagner for their Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) game on the Waldron Family Stadium turf.

MOUNT UPDATE

Facing the top defensive unit in the league, the Mount fell 13-6 to the Long Island Sharks last weekend. Brody Atkinson scored twice, continuing the lead the team in points with 22 while tying Cormac Giblin in the goal count with 13. Kevin Whitty picked up three assists to boost his season total to 10 and become the first Mount player to reach double figures.

Defense continues to help the Mountaineers stay in close proximity to their opponents. Owen Peters is 16th in the country for saves per game, crossing over the 100 mark for the year after the LIU game. The team is 22nd nationwide for caused turnovers. Mitchell Dunham leads the way with 17 CT's, followed by Jackson Phillips with 15.

SCOUTING THE SEAHAWKS

Wagner is looking for its second win of the season while trying to stop a two-game losing streak. Their one win came in the MAAC opener against Marist by a 9-8 score. Nick Martini is the primary goal scorer at 14 and CJ Sweitzer is the primary assist earner with 13. Together the duo has 15 points each to lead the Seahawks. Tristan McMahon plays an active role on defense with 16 ground balls and eight caused turnovers, and Rudy Zarata has six of the eight starts at goalie with 93 saves.

ALL-TIME SERIES

Over 21 previous games played, the Mount holds a decisive upper hand with 19 victories. They won every game between 2000 and 2014. Wagner earned its pair of wins over a three-year span, triumphing in 2015 and 2017.
