EMMITSBURG, Md. (March 2, 2024) – Mount St. Mary's women's lacrosse hopes to begin the month of March with a victory as they travel up Route 15 for a Sunday afternoon showdown against the Bucknell Bison.
MOUNT UPDATE
In their second home game of the year, the Mountaineers built a comeback attempt on the UMBC Retrieves that ended four goals shy.
Anna Salerno had a career day finding the back of the net, scoring six times.
Salerno now leads the team in scoring, with all 10 points coming off goals.
Mackenzi Furlong is second in point totals with nine, and
Abby Yesko has the highest number of assists at three, contributing to her seven points. As a unit, the Mount outpaces their competition in shots on goal percentage connecting almost 80 percent of the time.
SCOUTING THE BISON
Bucknell is riding on its first win of the season heading into Sunday's matchup, defeating Robert Morris on February 24. The Bison averaged 12.5 goals per game, led by Allie Boyce with 14 points – 12 of which are goals. Alex Nesbitt is second on the team for points and is at the top of the leaderboard for both ground balls and caused turnovers.
ALL-TIME SERIES
Mount St. Mary's looks for their first victory against Bucknell on their sixth try. The teams met last season in Emmitsburg with Bucknell earning an 11-8 win.
