Women’s Lacrosse Thrills on Defense, Defeats Marist 18-1

EMMITSBURG, Md. (March 25, 2026) – For the eighth time in Mount St. Mary's history, a women's lacrosse team held an opponent to a single goal for an entire game as the Mountaineers defeated the Marist Red Foxes 18-1 on Wednesday.

The Mount limited Marist to 21 shots and only 11 on goal while forcing 13 Red Foxes turnovers. Hailey Chester once again increased her career high for caused turnovers, securing five for the game. The duo of Camille Thomas and Becca Mullinix finished with 10 saves.

On offense, Mount St. Mary's was equally efficient, produced 18 goals on 28 shots with 25 of those attempts landing on goal. Nine members of the team scored, led by a five-goal effort from Haylee Bittinger, earning the freshman her first college hat trick.

The last time a Mount team held its challenger to one goal was April 30, 2022, against Central Connecticut.

Mount St. Mary's is now 6-4 and 2-0 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). Marist falls to 2-8 (1-1 MAAC).

HOW THE GAME UNFOLDED
  • After a start littered with turnovers for both sides, Bittinger and Chester set the tone with the first goals. Addie Petti and MK Allingham followed for a 4-0 Mount lead after one.
  • Brooke Molchanoff earned a hat trick of her own with a quarter's worth of goals, procuring three of the six strikes for the Mount in the second. The home side took a 10-0 lead into the break.
  • Molchanoff, Shannon McTavish, and Bittinger all scored in the third to make it 14-0.
  • Marist scored their lone goal with 8:18, but the Mount closed the contest on a 4-0 run with two goals from Morgan Baird, Bittinger's fifth, and a final tally from Logan Cook.
