EMMITSBURG, Md. (March 14, 2024) – Heading to Lexington, Virginia this weekend, Mount St. Mary's women's water polo begins Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play with three contests. The team opens with a true road game against the Keydets followed by games with Wagner and LIU.
MOUNT UPDATE: Non-conference games were successful for the Mount, going 10-7.
Ana Luisa Cotta has the most goals with 38 and was named to the Cutino Award Watch List earlier Thursday.
Anita Radaelli has had a superb rookie campaign so far and leads the team with 32 assists and 31 steals.
Rebecca Valentine and
Heather Lock have 38 drawn exclusions each to tie for the team lead.
THE COMPETITION: VMI is 5-7 this season and is coming off a 1-3 weekend at the Claremont Convergence, defeating University of the Redlands. Wagner is an impressive 16-3 and won three of four at the Harvard Invitational which included a 10-6 victory over the host Crimson. LIU stands at 12-4 and went 3-1 at the Convergence, taking down #19 Pacific in overtime along the way.
PREVIOUS HISTORY: In head-to-head competition, Mount St. Mary's is 2-2 all-time versus VMI, 0-2 against LIU and 0-1 against Wagner. VMI was the program's first-ever victory at the start of the 2022 season.
UP NEXT: Mount St. Mary's heads to New Rochelle, N.Y. for a pair of MAAC games with Iona and Siena.
