EMMITSBURG, Md. (March 1, 2024) – Mount St. Mary's men's lacrosse plays their last non-conference road game Saturday as they travel to the Garden State to battle Monmouth.
MOUNT UPDATE
Last Saturday, the Mount fell to the UMBC Retrievers 18-6. Five members of the team scored a goal, with
Cormac Giblin scoring twice. An 8-0 UMBC run sealed the Mount's fate after a close game for much of the first half.
Giblin and
Brody Atkinson have now reached double figures in points on offense, with Giblin leading at 11 points.
Mitchell Dunham has the highest number of caused turnovers with 11, one shy of three CT's per game on average.
Owen Peters is also one save below 13 stoppages a contest.
SCOUTING THE HAWKS
Monmouth comes into Saturday with a .500 record, defeating Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) opponents LIU and Wagner along the way. Connor Gorman leads the Hawks in points and goals. Ethan Cronk serves as the primary face-off handler and has won 56.5 percent of all draws. Michael Quigg has seven of the team's 37 caused turnovers.
ALL-TIME SERIES
Last year, the two teams met on the lacrosse field for the first time.
Kyle Cullen tied the contest for Mount St. Mary's in the closing moments of the fourth quarter, but Matt Karsian clinched the game for Monmouth in an overtime winner.
