EMMITSBURG, Md. (February 11, 2024) – Rallying from a tough Saturday, Mount St. Mary's women's water polo defeated Mercyhurst and Saint Francis University to finish the Bucknell Invite at 2-2. The Mountaineers are now 8-3 on the season.
A trio of performers –
Anita Radaelli,
Ana Luisa Cotta, and
Heather Lock – all recorded hat tricks during the day.
Rebecca Valentine was a multi-goal scorer in both contests.
Hannah Keyser started both games in goal and delivered the first double-digit save effort with 11 against the Red Flash.
Jumping out to leads in both games, the Mercyhurst win happened in incremental fashion, building the two-goal advantage, and maintaining it up to the final buzzer. Against SFU, the Mountaineers fired five first quarter goals and went up three by halftime. After going up 9-5 through the third period, they stayed even with the Red Flash in the fourth.
The Princeton Invite takes place next weekend on February 17-18, where the Mount plays two games.
