ANNAPOLIS, Md. (October 27, 2024) – Mount St. Mary's men's water polo suffered a 17-11 loss to George Washington away in Annapolis today. They now have a MAWPC record of 3-8 and overall record of 5-24 across their season.
George Washington started the game with pace as they outscored the Mount 12-6 through the first half of the match. But the Mount held firm on defense in the third quarter, holding the Revolutionaries to two goals while matching their scoring efforts in a 2-2 draw for the quarter. George Washington came out firing to start the final quarter, scoring three unanswered goals within two minutes to put the game out of reach for the Mount.
Gunner Lanquist scored a hat trick with goals coming in the first, second, and fourth quarter respectively.
Aaron Tarr scored a brace in the third quarter alone to help the Mountaineers match George Washington in that respective quarter.
Vasilije Marinkovic made 14 saves for the Mount in between the posts against the Revolutionaries.
