EMMITSBURG, Md. (October 18, 2024) – After a weekend of home games, the Mount travels to New England to take on Brown, UC Merced, Salem, and Chapman. The Brown/Harvard Invitational will be hosted by both schools, with games in Providence, Rhode Island and Cambridge, Massachusetts respectively.
MOUNT UPDATE
Going 2-2 in their home match ups and with dominant 19-10 and 16-10 wins against Mercyhurst and Johns Hopkins respectively, the Mount holds a conference record of 3-5.
Over the past weekend,
Aaron Tarr scored his 100
th career goal for the Mount and
Joseph Maxson notched his 411
th career save, the new program record for a goalkeeper. He overtook Marko Kruska's record of 402 saves set in 2021. Upcoming record watches for the team include
Alexandros Bellesis 200 career goals and
Michael Lemishko's 100 career goals, with the pair only being five goals away from their respective milestones.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
Brown is 8-5 so far this year with a 3-2 conference record in the Northeast Water Polo Conference. With wins against No. 17 California Baptist and Biola, the Bears have faced ranked opposition in No. 14 Fordham, No. 7 Pacific, and although unranked, a talented Air Force program.
UC Merced is 1-12 without having played a conference opponent yet. In their only win against the California Institute of Technology, the bobcats scored 20 goals past the Beavers. They have also faced substantial ranked competitors in No. 12 UC San Diego, No 11. UC Santa Barbara, No. 12 San Jose State, No. 8 UC Davis, and No. 8 California.
The Mount has already faced Salem twice this season, facing defeat in both matches in Morgantown and Emmitsburg. Salem has also notched wins against Johns Hopkins and LIU earning a record of 8-3.
Chapman has a record of 7-9 with a conference record of 2-3. With wins against Air Force and Biola, the Panthers have also recorded two wins against both La Verne and California Lutheran.
ALL-TIME SERIES
The Mount is 0-1 against Brown, 3-6 against Salem, and 0-2 against Chapman. This weekend will feature the first ever game between the Mountaineers and UC Merced.
