PROVIDENCE, R.I. (September 2nd, 2023) – Men's Water Polo's seven goals in the second half of game one in Saturday's edition of the Bruno Classic surged them into the win column over Mercyhurst, 11-6. Head Coach
Justin Vink succeeded in securing his first win as head coach of the Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers and in his career.

After a dicey first half for the Mountaineers, they were able to come out of the break with heavier offensive pressure. The game was all knotted up after one, 2-2. The Mount turned great defense into effective offense in the second allowing zero goals and scoring two, going into the half 4-2. Keeping control in the third the team exploded for four goals while allowing only one. Vink and his team came up with the answer out of the break, essentially putting the game out of reach for the Lakers entering the fourth. Strong play by sophomore goalkeeper
Sherif Hosni along with Mount's 15 steals, secured a win for the program.

Mount St. Mary's outpaced by Pacific in the first quarter, allowing nine goals versus their one. The Mountaineers buckled down in the second allowing only two goals in the second while scoring three bringing the score to 11-4 by halftime. Hosni was able to score a goal of his own while saving a handful of balls from entering the net. The Tigers were ranked in the top five nationally per the coach's preseason poll, well deserved as in the water today they were near flawless.
