Mount St. Mary's returns to Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play at Fairfield on Saturday afternoon. The Mountaineers are coming off an exciting 2-1 victory over UMBC on Wednesday night.
MOUNT UPDATE: Annie Sorando's late goal lifted the Mount to a 2-1 win over UMBC on Wednesday night at Waldron Family Stadium. The Mountaineers are 2-1-1 over their past four contests. Sorando headed home a beautiful cross from
Emily Streett with 4:18 remaining to break the 1-1 tie. Â Â
Luisangely Navas gave the Mount a 1-0 lead in the first half by converting a penalty kick in the 15
th minute. Navas leads the Mount in scoring with five points (2g, 1a) while Maddie Bee leads the team with 18 shots.Â
Arden Lembryk started against UMBC in goal and now has a 1.50 goals against average and a .786 save percentage in three appearances (two starts).Â
Klil Keshwar has started six of seven games played this year in goal with a 1.50 GAA and a .804 save percentage.
ABOUT FAIRFIELD: Fairfield is coming off ties with Syracuse (0-0) and Sacred Heart (3-3) and enters the game 2-3-3 overall. The Stags had the bye the first week of MAAC play and will be making their MAAC debut this season. Maddy Theriault leads the team with four goals and nine points while Sam Kersey had three goals. Meghan Carragher leads the team with four assists. Katie Wright has played every minute in goal, posting a 1.75 goals against average and a .611 save percentage.
THE ALL-TIME SERIES WITH FAIRFIELD: This will be the second all-time meeting between the Mount and Fairfield. Last year, the Stags posted a 2-1 victory at the Mount's Waldron Family Stadium on a windy afternoon in Emmitsburg. The Stags had the wind advantage in the first half, firing 20 shots and scoring twice to take a 2-0 lead. Play was pretty even in the second half with the Mount breaking through on the scoreboard in the 84
th minute on a
Kalli Bell penalty kick.Â
Drew Camp made 11 saves for the Mount in the game with Katie Wright stopping five shots for the Stags.
