EMMITSBURG, Md. (September 1st, 2023) – Men's golf places their tees in the ground to open the season at the Red Bandana Invitational hosted by Boston College.
MOUNT UPDATE
Mount St. Mary's men's golf welcomed five newcomers to the team over the off-season. The team consists of five freshmen (
Santiago Bonequi,
Fisher Coleman-Sayer,
Martin Hurtado,
Tyler Kimble,
Christian Molina), one sophomore (
Nathan Pheng), two juniors (
Devin Smith &
Aaron Sorkin), three seniors (
Juan Fradera,
Hank Schaefer,
Ben Smith), and two graduate students (
Mitchell Gallo,
Joseph O'Malley).
Top returners include
Hank Schaefer and
Ben Smith. Schaefer ended last season by placing second overall in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference finals just one stroke out of first place, while helping the team finish third. While, senior
Ben Smith was busy competing this off-season making nods at the BMW Philadelphia Amateur Championship and qualifying for the U.S. Amateur Championship.
