Mount St. Mary's Women's Basketball Announces 2023-24 Schedule

2023-24 SCHEDULE

Emmitsburg, Md. (August 29, 2023)--
Mount St. Mary's women's basketball coach Antoine White has announced the 2023-24 schedule, highlighted by a 13-game home slate.  The season kicks off on November 9 at Howard and the home opener is scheduled for Saturday, November 18, against Cornell.

The Mountaineers start the season with a pair of road games, at Howard on November 9 in the season opener and at Navy on November 15.  The Mount and Howard have met 12 times with the Bison holding an 8-4 lead in the series, while the Mount has a 20-9 advantage in the all-time ledger against Navy.  The home opener will be Saturday, November 18, versus Cornell at 5:00 p.m.  This will be the third all-time meeting between the two schools with Cornell capturing last year's matchup in Ithaca, N.Y.

After the home opener, the Mount heads back on the road for the next three contests, at former Northeast Conference rival Fairleigh Dickinson (Nov. 22), Maryland Eastern Shore (Nov. 29) and at rival Loyola (Dec. 2).  This will be the 65th all-time meeting between the Mount and FDU (37-27 MSM series lead), the 20th all-time matchup with Maryland Eastern Shore (15-4 MSM series lead) and the 44th matchup against Loyola (27-16 MSM series lead).

The Mount has three of the next four games at home beginning with back-to-back matchups with Bucknell (Dec. 5, 7 pm) and George Mason (Dec. 9, 1 pm).  This will be the first meeting between the Mount and Bucknell since Nov. 24, 2015, with the Mountaineers holding a 6-3 lead in the series.  When George Mason visits on December 9, the Mount will be seeing a familiar face in George Mason head coach Vanessa Blair.  The former Mountaineer great, who had her number retired by the Mount in 2019, was inducted into the Mount's Hall of Fame in 2003. This will be the Mount's first matchup with George Mason since November 19, 2005.

Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play begins on December 16 when the Mountaineers visit Fairfield.  Two days later, the Mount welcomes Siena to Knott Arena on Monday, December 18, for a 7:00 p.m. matchup.  The non-conference slate closes with a game at TCU on December 22.  The Mount hosts Bryn Athyn in an exhibition game on Saturday, December 30, at 1:00 p.m.

The Mount will be in MAAC regular season play the rest of the way, beginning with the two-game road trip to Western New York in early January (Jan. 4, at Canisius; Jan. 6, at Niagara).  The Mount hosts Quinnipiac (Jan. 11) and Marist (Jan. 18) before traveling to Rider (Jan. 20) and Saint Peter's (Jan. 25).  The Mountaineers will host Niagara on Saturday, Jan. 27, for Homecoming with a 2:00 p.m. game.  A home tilt with Iona follows on February 1.  After a quick trip to Manhattan on Feb. 3, the Mount hosts Rider (Feb. 8) and Canisius (Feb. 10).

The rest of the MAAC regular season includes home games with Fairfield (Feb. 17), Manhattan (Feb. 29) and Saint Peter's (Mar. 9) along with road matchups at Quinnipiac (Feb. 15), Marist (Feb. 22), Iona (Feb. 24) and Siena (Mar. 2).  The MAAC Tournament will be held at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City from March 12-16.

The Mountaineers finished their first season in the MAAC with a 12-19 overall record and a 7-13 mark in league play.  The Mount downed Canisius in the MAAC Tournament First Round before falling to top-seeded Iona, 39-37, in the Quarterfinals.  The Mountaineers have three starters returning in senior Jessica Tomasetti (10.7 ppg, 5.5 rpg), Jo Raflo (8.5 ppg) and Isabella Hunt (5.8 ppg, 7.3 rpg, 3.0 apg).

Season tickets will go on sale on Tuesday, September 19 with individual game tickets available on Monday, October 2nd.  For more information on season tickets, contact the Mount Ticket Office at 301-447-5700 or tickets@msmary.edu.  Ticket office hours are 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday.
