Water Polo Welcomes Robert Halligan Jr. to Coaching Staff

EMMITSBURG, Md. (August 23, 2023) - Robert "Bobby" Halligan Jr. will be joining men's and women's Water Polo as an Assistant Coach to newly promoted Head Coach Justin Vink

Halligan Jr. was most recently seen working with the USA Water Polo teams in the Northeast region as a coach in the Olympic Development Program. He also spent his time mentoring at the WCAC Maverick Water Polo Club where he coached for 14u, 16u, and 18u boys and girls club teams. 

Take it back a few years, Bobby is a Loyola Marymount University graduate out of Los Angeles, California. He was a student-athlete for the Water Polo program as he served as team captain in 2020 and his graduating year, 2021. During his collegiate career, Bobby would spend his extra time volunteering for the Special Olympics and Environmental Cleanup. He graduated in May of 2021 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. 

Bobby wishes to make a career in coaching and working with student-athletes to enhance their skill sets and development as well as create prosperous and positive environments. He is known to have a mentor focused leadership style with an emphasis on cognitive, emotional, and empathetic understanding that contributes to the success of the student, the coach, and the team. 

Mount St. Mary's men's Water Polo begins with a double-header on September 2nd in Providence, R.I.
