RESULTS
Emmitsburg, Md. (May 6, 2023)--Mount St. Mary's men's track and field is in second place after the first day of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships held at the Mount's Morgan Track. The women's team is in fourth place after the first day of competition.Â
Rebecca Weir and
Ella Dougher each won gold medals to pace the Mount today.
Weir took home first place in the javelin with a toss of 42.02m (137-10) with teammate
Tierney McCarroll finishing fourth with a mark of 38.54m (126-5). Dougher won the pole vault by clearing 3.65m (11-11.75) with teammates
Emelie Beckman (3.35m, 10-11.75) and
Evyn Fitzgerald (3.35m, 10-11.75) finishing third and fourth in the event as well.Â
Jaelyn Chevannes was seventh in the hammer throw (44.96m (147-6) with teammate
Ann Marie Oriakhi right behind in eighth with a toss of 144.09m (144-8).Â
Zionna Perez-Tucker qualfied for the finals with the top times in both the 100m (12.02) and the 200m (24.51) while
Jasmine Kidd also reached the finals in both events (100m, 4th, 12.40; 200m, 5th, 25.50).Â
Dominique Jeffery also advanced to the finals in the 800m (8th, 25.88). Sarah Purnell (100m hurdles, 8th, 15.54),
Zaria Wilson (400m, 6th, 58.50) and
Alexis Zimmerman (300m, 8th, 59.50) also reached finals on Sunday.
On the men's side,
Andrew Sobocinski was second in the javelin (50.25m, 164-10) with
Josh Cella fifth (47.07m, 154-5) and Jeffrey Stupski sixth (45.76m, 150-1).Â
Dylan LaNoue was third in the long jump (6.94m, 22-9.25),
Drake Tews fourth (6.68m, 21-11) and
Dante Elliot eighth (6.37m, 20-10.75).Â
Matthew Grossman was fifth in the pole vault (3.65m, 11-11.75) with
John Wang placing fourth in the 3,000m steeplechase (9:19.44) and
John Ruona fifth (9:25.30).
Advancing to finals tomorrow were
Todd Charles (100m, 2nd, 10.75; 200m, 3rd, 21.85),
Richard Gilchrist (110m hurdles, 1st, 14.37; 100m, 4th, 10.97), Wang (1500m, 2nd, 3:52.91),
Justyn Seivright (400m hurdles, 1st, 55.03),
Will Stephenson (110m hurdles, 3rd, 14.66; 400m hurdles, 3rd, 56.53);
Matthew LeRoux (110m hurdles, 4th, 15.03),
Torian Neblett (100m, 5th, 11.03), Nick Weaver (100m, 7th, 11.05; 200m, 8th, 22.04),
Daniel Reader (400m, 2nd, 48.77; 200m, 7th, 22.10) and
Alexander Koo (400m hurdles, 7th, 1:09.93).
Rider leads the men's standings with 61 points, followed by the Mount (40), Manhattan (31), Saint Peter's (28), Iona (21), Marist (21), Canisius (15) and Siena (11). On the women's side, Rider leads with 69 points, followed by Quinnipiac (47), Manhattan (41), the Mount (39), Iona (20), Siena (11), Saint Peter's (4) and Marist (3).
The meet concludes tomorrow with field events beginning at 10:00 a.m. and running events at noon at the Mount's Morgan Track.
