Mount Track Quartet Closes Out Strong Season with Performances at NCAA East First Round

Jacksonville, Fla. (May 27, 2023)--Mount St. Mary's men's track and field had a pair of runners compete at the NCAA East First Round today at Hodges Stadium at the University of North Florida.  Richard Gilchrist finished in 27th place in the 110m hurdles while Todd Charles finished in 46th place in the 100m dash.

Gilchrist, competing at the NCAA East First Round for the second consecutive season, finished in 27th place in the 110m hurdles with a time of 13.79 seconds.  Gilchrist earned his spot with a school-record mark of 13.76 seconds set earlier this season at High Point's VertKlasse Meeting.  He was ranked 26th in the field of 48 runners heading into today's competition.  Gilchrist finished fifth in his heat, finishing just .03 seconds behind his school-record time.

Charles, making is first appearance at the NCAA East First Round, posted a time of 10.47 seconds in the 100m dash.  Charles had earned his spot earlier this season with a school-record time of 10.25 seconds at the VertKlasse Meeting at High Point on March 31.

On Friday, Dylan LaNoue, making his third consecutive appearance at the NCAA East First Round, competed in the triple jump, fouling on his three attempts.  Dante Elliot, in his first apperance at the NCAA Esat First Round, missed on all three of his attempts at 2.09m in the high jump.
