EMMITSBURG, Md. (May 23, 2023) – Four members of Mount St. Mary's baseball captured five placements on the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference's All-MAAC teams.
Scott Seeker received a First Team selection as a designated hitter, while
Shane Wockley at first base and
Tyler Long at shortstop earned spots on the Second Team.
JT Landwehr garnered two selections, for both the Second Team and All-Rookie as a utility player.
Seeker excelled in his first season in Emmitsburg. Starting all 52 games, the junior from Norton, Ohio earned a .343 average with 14 home runs, 40 RBIs, and an OPS of 1.062. With 70 base hits, Seeker landed second on the Mount's all-time list for hitting safely in a season. A select top individual performance came on March 17
th, a 4-for-5, three homer day against St. Bonaventure.
Wockley, like Seeker, also ended the year second all-time in an offensive category. His 17 home runs fell three shy of the program record. The junior from the suburbs of Pittsburgh also had the most RBIs, plating 52 across 51 games. His OPS registered at 1.172, bolstered by getting on-base more than 45 percent of the time.
Long continued to serve as the dependable shortstop for the Mount, finishing the year hitting .324 with 61 hits, walking 24 times, driving in 23, and securing 12 extra base knocks. Batting towards the top of the lineup, he tied for the team lead in runs scored at 44. Playing on the tougher side of the infield, the junior added 121 assists, 59 putouts and 20 double plays.
Landwehr appeared in 48 contests as a first-year player, making 28 starts. Batting at .303 for the year, the Virginia freshman went 33-for-109, scored 23 times, drove in 22, and registered extra bases six times. He also made seven appearances on the mound, striking out 13 batters over 12 1/3 innings.
The four recognitions are the most received by a Mount St. Mary's baseball team since 2018.
Wrapping up their season this past Saturday, the Mountaineers went 25-27, achieving their highest win total since the 2007 season.
