Emmitsburg, Md. (May 15th, 2023) – Mount. St. Mary's has had a remarkable turnaround since last season. Diving headfirst into the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference has not affected this group of gritty student-athletes as they have embraced the challenge and succeeded with the opportunity they have been presented.
Senior day will begin at 2:20 on Tuesday (5/16) in which 10 student-athletes will be honored.
MOUNT UPDATE
The Mountaineers are coming off a huge 2-1 weekend over conference foes Siena Saints.
Tristan McAlister had a great weekend at the plate after producing an 8-13 average at the plate and five scores over the series span.
Aiden Tierney and
Tyler Long were huge on the offensive in game three. Tierney posted a 4-6 average with two scores and two RBIs while Long batted four guys in.
JT Landwehr, who saw action at third base, also recorded his first win as a Mountaineer on the mound in game three.
Aiden Tierney is leading the team in the box batting an average of .352 with 50 hits and 27 scores.
Scott Seeker is second batting .346 with 40 scores, 39 RBIs, and 14 home runs.
Shane Wockley holds the three-spot batting a .336 with 37 scores, 46 RBIs, and 16 dingers. The Mountaineers have seven players batting over .300 as the team holds an average of .300.
SCOUTING COPPIN STATE
The Eagles are 18-30 with a 10-17 away record and are on a three-game win streak. Brody Black leads the team's bats yielding a .308 average with 27 RBIs. Second is Jordan Hamberg yielding an average of .307 with 36 RBIs.
Leading Coppin State's pitching staff is Marcos Herrand yielding a 5.36 ERA, 7-5 W-L ratio, through 80 2/3 innings pitched.
HISTORY WITH THE EAGLES
The Mountaineers are 31-10-1 against the Eagles on the Diamond with majority games played at home (21-6-1). The last matchup between the two clubs was on April 27
th, 2021 in an away win for the Mount 21-17.
